# Money Finder

## Purpose
Help an agent or person locate money they are owed but have not claimed: state unclaimed property, refunds, credits, and active class action settlements. Keep the process free, simple, and verifiable.

## Workflow
1. **Unclaimed property search**
   - Go to https://www.missingmoney.com, enter first and last name, plus each state where the person lived or worked【7408356189530382453†L9-L10】.
   - Try variations: maiden name, prior married names, current name【7408356189530382453†L51-L52】.
   - For each hit, click CLAIM to go to the official state treasury site and follow its form【7408356189530382453†L58-L59】.

2. **Class action settlements**
   - Check a current open-settlements list. Filter for "no proof of purchase" if receipts are missing【9079185319902343623†L8-L9】.
   - Verify eligibility, required proof, and the published deadline on the official settlement site【9079185319902343623†L42-L44】.
   - File before the deadline. Deadlines are firm【9079185319902343623†L118-L119】.

3. **Record results**
   - List: site, name searched, states checked, claims filed, deadlines hit.
   - Keep copies of claim confirmations.

## Output Contract
- `findings.md`: table of active hits, URLs, deadline dates, next steps.
- `claims_log.csv`: one row per claim with date filed, site, status.
- No fees paid, no third-party services.
