Social Bio Optimization

Purpose

Turn a social profile into a converting landing page. Most bios waste their three seconds on vagueness ("entrepreneur | dreamer"). This skill produces bios that say who you help, what you deliver, one real proof point, and one clear action, fitted to each platform's limits, plus a link hub that sends visitors to the current priority destination and a way to measure which CTA earns its clicks.

Workflow

  1. Collect the inputs. Who the person helps (a real niche, not "everyone"), what outcome they deliver, one or two real credibility markers (years, clients, revenue, press, followers), current priority goal (one: follows, email signups, bookings, sales), and the platforms they care about.
  2. Write the one-liner first. Compress identity + audience + outcome into one sentence. If it could belong to anyone, it belongs to no one; send it back and sharpen the niche or the proof.
  3. Fit it per platform. Use the character limits in references/platform-specs.md. The same positioning re-expressed per platform, not copied raw. Run bin/bio_check.py on every draft to verify it fits before presenting it.
  4. Pick the link and the hub. One priority destination beats a fifteen-link junk drawer. If a hub is needed, lead with the priority action above the fold. Choose tooling from references/link-hub-guide.md based on whether the bio link is a menu or a checkout.
  5. Plan the pinned slot. If there is a strong evergreen asset (best thread, case study, lead magnet, newsletter), pin it. If not, leave the slot empty rather than pinning weak content. Set a refresh cadence: review the pinned post every 7-14 days and replace it if it is stale.
  6. Set up measurement. Tag every bio link with UTMs (utm_source=<platform>&utm_medium=bio_link&utm_campaign=<goal>) so GA4 or the link tool shows which platform sends visitors and what they click. Check hub analytics weekly: click share per link, order effect when reordering links.
  7. Iterate on evidence. If click-through is flat after two weeks of real traffic, change one thing at a time: bio CTA wording, link order, or the lead link's button label. Record what changed and what moved.

Output Contract

Return a per-platform spec: handle recommendation, name field (with searchable keyword where the platform indexes it), bio text (verified under the limit, with leftover count), link URL (UTM-tagged), CTA wording, pinned post plan, and one line on what to measure in week one. Use assets/profile-spec-template.md. Lead with the spec, keep the rationale to one sentence per decision.

Operating Rules

  1. Every factual claim about a platform (limits, pricing, features) must come from a verified source. Never invent numbers, dates, or quotes. If a fact is not in the references and cannot be verified in this session, cut it or frame it as opinion.
  2. Never invent proof points. A bio with a made-up stat is a trust incident on a public profile. If the user has no proof yet, write the bio around the outcome they deliver and the audience they serve, and say so plainly.
  3. Clarity first, personality second. Specific over clever. Line breaks count against limits on most platforms, so keep formatting minimal on tight fields.
  4. One CTA per profile. Two CTAs means the visitor picks neither.
  5. The searchable fields (Instagram name field, LinkedIn headline, YouTube description) carry a niche keyword, not just a name.
