Social SEO Discovery
Purpose
Make social content findable where people search: inside TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram search boxes, and in Google results that now index social posts and clips. The work is keyword research first, keyword placement second, verification third.
Workflow
- Research the keyword. Start with the platform's own tools before guessing.
- TikTok: open TikTok, tap search, type "creator search insights", tap View. Use the Content gap filter for high-demand low-supply topics, the All tab for trending searches, and Searches by followers (needs 1,000+ followers). Type your topic into the tool's search bar to see volume and related searches. Treat a content gap as a lead, not a promise: it measures TikTok search behavior only, not guaranteed views.
- YouTube: type the topic into YouTube's autocomplete and note the suggestions; check what the top 5 results' titles do that yours should also do or do better. Small channels win on specific long-tail phrases, not broad terms.
- Instagram: use Instagram search autocomplete the same way, and study the top accounts and posts for your target query.
- Write the searchable copy. Primary keyword goes: first in the TikTok/Instagram caption's visible first line, in YouTube's title (first 60 characters) and first two sentences of the description, in Instagram's display name and bio (150-character limit), and once in on-screen text and once spoken aloud early in the video (both platforms transcribe audio and OCR text overlays). Alt text on every image, written as a real description with the keyword only if it naturally fits. See references/keyword-placement.md.
- Audit before shipping. Run the checklist CLI against the draft copy:
python3 bin/seo_audit.py --platform tiktok --caption "<draft>" --spoken "<script>" --on-screen "<overlay text>"
python3 bin/seo_audit.py --platform youtube --title "<title>" --description "<description>" --transcript "<spoken words>"
python3 bin/seo_audit.py --platform instagram --display-name "<name>" --bio "<bio>" --caption "<caption>" --alt-text "<alt>"
Fix every FAIL, not just the easy ones.
- Verify after publishing. For YouTube: watch CTR and average view duration in Studio over the first 7 to 14 days. For TikTok: check Search analytics (All posts / Inspired posts tabs) for search-driven views. For Instagram: Insights for non-follower reach. If search traffic is flat after two weeks with good keyword placement, the problem is the video's retention or hook, not the metadata.
Output Contract
Each piece of copy or each post the agent produces returns:
- The keyword researched and where the demand evidence came from (tool name, tab, or autocomplete observation).
- The optimized copy itself (caption, title, bio, or alt text).
- An seo_audit.py checklist result with no FAIL lines.
- A one-line note on what the post is optimized to rank for and where (e.g. "TikTok search: 'meal prep for one'; YouTube search: 'cheap meal prep single person'").
Operating Rules
- Never invent keyword volume, search counts, or ranking guarantees. If the platform tool did not show it, say so and rely on autocomplete evidence instead.
- Write captions like answers, not billboards: a clear keyword in the first line, natural language after. Keyword stuffing reads as spam to both humans and ranking systems.
- Clarity over cleverness: the hook can be clever, but the searchable fields (title, caption first line, bio, alt text) must say what the thing is in plain words.
- Keep metadata and content in agreement: if the caption promises one topic and the video covers another, the platform downranks both. Match the on-screen text and spoken words to the caption keyword.
- Alt text serves accessibility first and search second. Describe what is actually in the image, under 125 characters, never "image of..." or a keyword list. See references/alt-text.md.
- Do not conflate search ranking with feed ranking: TikTok search ranking uses caption/spoken/on-screen/hashtag signals; the FYP weighs watch behavior. Optimize both, measure both.
